Her Father, Bill Garner, is a Chemical Engineer and her mother, Pat, is an college English teacher.

Jennifer has an older sister, Melissa, and a younger sister, Suzanna.

Love Life and Children:

While playing the love interest of Scott Foley on the set of the TV series 'Felicity', Jennifer and Scott started dating off-screen as well. They fell in love and were married on October 19, 2000. Unfortunately, they filed for divorce in March 2003.

Afterwards, she dated Michael Vartan, her co-star in the TV series 'Alias', but they went their separate ways in the summer of 2004.

After the movie 'Dare Devil', Jennifer and her co-star actor 'Ben Affleck' started dating. But in contrast to Ben's much publicized previous romance with another Jennifer- Jennifer Lopez, they pretty much kept their relationship away from the public eye.

In fact, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were only publicly seen together at the Boston Red Sox World Series in 2004. They got engaged in April 2005, and by the summer of 2005, the couple had tied the knot and shortly afterwards, Violet, their first baby, was born.

Childhood:

Due to her father's Job, the family moved from Texas to Charleston, West Virginia, when Jennifer was three years old. Jennifer's family were a conservative, very hard working family, placing little importance on looks and encouraging their daughters in their academics and extra curriculum activities. In fact, Jennifer and her sisters took piano and ballet lessons for many years. Jennifer also played the saxophone, was on the swimming team and took dancing lessons for nine years, practicing for many hours every day. In the summers, she helped at the local summer theater, where she would occasionally perform.

She graduated from High School in 1990, and enrolled at the Chemical Engineering Department at Denison University, in Ohio. Soon after, drawn by her love for drama, she switched to theater.

After graduating in 1994, she moved to NY and started pursuing her acting career.

Her Acting Career:

She landed her first role in 1995, as an understudy in the Broadway production 'A Month In The Country'. She moved to LA, and Jennifer would eventually land several roles at the Hallmark Company. She played Melissa Gilbert's daughter in the TV movie 'Zoya' based on a novel by Danielle's Steel. In 1996, she appeared in other Hallmark productions including 'Harvest of Fire', 'Rose Hill' and 'Dead Man's Walk' which is a prequel to the hit series 'Lonesome Dove'.

She made several guest appearances on TV series such as 'Spin City', 'Law and Order' and played the brief role of the woman in the elevator in Woody Allen's 'Deconstructing Harry' in 1997. That same year, she also appeared on the big screen opposite Leslie Nielson in the comedy 'Mr. Magoo', and appeared 'In Harm's Way'.

In 1998, she was cast in the teenager Fox TV drama 'Significant Others', which had a promising future for her, unfortunately the show was cancelled after a few episodes but Jennifer had established a good impression and a few good connections. She then appeared in a few episodes of the hit series 'Felicity' playing the role of Hannah, the former girlfriend of Noel- Scott Fole- starring opposite his love interest Keri Russel. In 1999, the creators of the popular TV series 'Party Of Five' launched a spin-off series to their show 'Time of Your Life' starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was one the brothers' girlfriend in POF. Jennifer was cast for the series as her roommate, Romy, but the show was also cancelled after the second season.

In 2000 she appeared opposite Ashton Kutcher in the comedy 'Dude, Where is my Car?' And in 2001, she played one of the female nurses in the war epic 'Pearl Harbor' co-starring Ben Affleck.

When the creators of Felicity were casting for their new series 'Alias', Jennifer Garner filled the position of their heroine in 2001. She started taking Martial Arts classes and delivered a beautiful performance of 'Sydney Briston', a college student who is also a secret spy for the CIA. Jennifer flaunted her kicking techniques, funky looks and outfits, dramatic acting talents and the show became a major success earning her the 'Golden Globe Award' in 2001 and an Emmy nomination in 2002.

In 2002, she had a small role as the beautiful model opposite Leonardo Dicaprio in Steven Spielberg's hit movie 'Catch Me If You Can'. She then used her impressive fighting and kicking techniques to star as Electra reuniting with Ben Affleck in 'Dare Devil' in 2003.

In 2004, she played the lead role in the hilarious comedy '13 going to 30' portraying a young girl who overnight matures by 17 years. In 2005, she continued fighting the villains in her own movie this time, 'Elektra'.

It was recently announced that Jennifer Garner will star in the upcoming erotic thriller, Sabbatical, scheduled for release in 2007.
